AlKifah Readymix and Blocks Installs Two Batching Plants for Riyadh Metro Project

Signing a contract with FAST Consortium, the main contractor, to supply ready-mix concrete for the largest public transport project in the Kingdom.

Riyadh Metro is a part of King Abdullah Riyadh Public Transport Project (RPTP), which is planned to comprise six lines throughout the capital city with 85 stations of 22.5 billion dollars cost, and expected to be completed by 2018.

The project includes construction of advanced central room to operate, monitor and control the trains and all of the system’s elements such as the stations, lines, facilities and systems.

The latest technology were integrated into the metro network design. The trains will run automatically (without a driver), and involve the world’s cutting edge technology in the specification of metro cars. The cars can be separated internally to accommodate family service class, and they support communication and information exchange services.

On the other side, AlKifah Readymix & Blocks started its work on line 4 of the Metro as the new ready-mix concrete supplier of this giant project after signing a contract with FAST Consortium, the main contractor in this phase of the project. KRB has installed two batching plants in the location in addition to ice plants.

Supplying the highest specification concrete in the kingdom is a challenge that KRB was able to succeed superiorly in, after a series of detailed and intensive trials. Currently, KRB is providing different types of high strength concrete to meet the requirement of the project’s construction phases.
