On Monday 22nd of February 2016, AlKifah Holding signed the agreement to establish a Fabrication Laboratory in collaboration with Jubail and Yanbu Royal Commission, supervised by National Talents Co.
The Fab Lab works by the standards of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and includes advanced tools such as CNC and high-resolution machines which make circuit boards and precision parts. In addition, it will be provided with digital fabrication and computation (CAM & CAD).
The lab will organize knowledge-oriented workshops, where young female designers and students can work three days of the week, while another three days will be allocated for young males.
Most tools that we use in our daily life can be created in this laboratory since it’s provided with the right equipments. Those tools start from printed designs on fabrics or any surface, to furniture, plastic, silicon, or any electronic device from the fixed components of the electric machines, to mobile parts of any mechanical machine with any color or shape one can imagine.
“Supporting this project comes from the perception of the need to the national labors”, stated Mr. Suliman Al-Afaleq, the Chairman of AlKifah Holding CSR, “We need national competencies to lead a revolution in technology, supported by businessmen in order to develop the production and services of the kingdom. Providing the different means of education and development to the youth will benefit us and our society”.
It is worth mentioning, at the very end, that this project is one of AlKifah’s Social Responsibility projects in AlJubail Industrial area.
